The School Day

For EYFS and Year 1-6 a member of staff will come out to the KS2 playground, Year 1 doors and EY entrance at 8.45am and blow a whistle. This is a signal for the children to say goodbye to parents and carers and line up. The class teachers will then come out and bring the children in from 8.50am.

We ask that you are prompt and that all children are in their line, ready to be taken in at 8.50am. We also ask that you do not give messages to teachers as this delays the process. There are Teaching Assistants available to take messages, or please speak to the school office. Once the last line has gone in, the doors are closed. If you arrive after this time, you must take your child to the front office, and may be marked as ‘late’.

The children have a morning break of 15 minutes, during which each Key Stage goes to their own playground.

The lunch period is 11.45 - 1.15pm, with year groups being staggered for an hours lunch. Please click here for more information about lunch at St Joseph's.

The children may have an afternoon break. During break times, the children engage in physical activity, form friendships and develop social skills.

EYFS finish the school day at 3.20 pm, and for all other children, 3.30pm.

For Nursery children, those who stay for 15 hours per week (3 hours a day), the finish and collection time is 11.50am. For any F1 children who use 30 hours per week (6 hours a day), the finish and collection time is 3.20pm.

Please collect your children from the Playgrounds:

F2 and F1 from the Early Years garden area, Y4, Y3 and Y2 from the KS2 playground, Y5 and Y6 from the KS1 playground, and Y1 from the Y1 door area.

If you wish to speak to your child's teacher or the Head teacher, please speak to the office to make an appointment.

Not including Breakfast club, After School club or other after school clubs or events, a typical week is 33.2 hours.
